SILVERBACKS UP THE NURSES

Dublin's Silverbacks shared 'Muted Gold' - the spindly lead track from their forthcoming Girl Band-produced debut album Fad just over a month ago. Returning with their frighteningly appropriately-titled new tune 'Up The Nurses', the quintet delve into slightly new sonic territory as bassist and vocalist Emma Hanlon takes the lead on vocal duties. Paying homage to New York's infamous 70s downtown scene, that cultivated artists including Blondie, Talking Heads and The Ramones, 'Up The Nurses' chugs along steadily, adding emphasis to the end of each phrase with unhinged guitars and crashing drums. Hanlon explains: "I love Blondie and Kilian overheard me singing along to them one night. A few days later he surprised me with our very own new wave jam ‘Up The Nurses’. The song talks about "amour fou" ("mad love") and the unwanted adoration someone receives for the care they're giving someone." Listen here now. -Holly Mullineaux
